The annual Hawaii Food + Wine Festival kicks off at THE MODERN HONOLULU, September 4, 2014. This year's event carrying the theme "A Lucky Modern Buddha Belly," features 14 world-renowned chefs, two master sommeliers and almost a dozen winemakers who will tap their inner Zen. Each participant has been asked to plate or pour that which brings them the utmost in happiness, plentitude, and wisdom of contentment.
This year's Hawaii Food + Wine Festival features an astonishing array of talent — restaurateurs, winemakers, mixologists and celebrity chefs. Names that regularly fill the airwaves on The Food Network (and elsewhere) include: Cat Cora, Hubert Keller, Nobu Matsuhisa, Nancy Oakes, Charles Phan, Andrew Sutton, Art Smith, Ming Tsai, Michael Voltaggio, Christina Tosi, Alan Wong, Toshihiko Yoroizuka, Jason Fox, Dean Fearing, Tetsuya Wakuda and more.
All-star winemakers won't be in short supply: Guests can count on sampling the wares from Jim Clendenen (Au Bon Climate, Santa Barbara), Mark Tarlov (Willamette Valley, Ore.), Schatzi Throckmorton of Behrens & Relic, St. Helena and Paul Furst from Germany, just to name a few.
Master Sommeliers Richard Betts (Betts & Scholl, My Essential Wine, Saint Glinglin, Sombra Mezcal) and Joseph Spellman (Justin Vineyards and Winery) will walk attendees through nuances of what they're sipping that evening.
