the study lounge / hidden happy hour

Like a sexy librarian, The Study isn’t what it immediately seems. It waits demurely behind a wall of books in the lobby of THE MODERN HONOLULU. At 5 p.m. each evening, the bookshelves rotate to reveal The Study’s neutral palette and clean lines, whispers of THE MODERN HONOLULU’s subtle sophistication. That’s your invitation to get to know The Study – a knockout cached in understatement. Cocktail tables are barely an arm’s length from endless sectionals, lush ottomans and melt-into-me chairs, but you can always command a seat at the bar – the drinks here are legendary. Try the Fire Across the Sea (The Study’s signature mix of wasabi and Sriracha with Grey Goose vodka and Japanese horseradish) or the Wuthering Heights, mixologist Tony Abou-Ganim’s epic of Sailor Jerry spiced rum and orange curaçao served on the rocks and enhanced by fresh-pressed lemon and a cinnamon-tincture rim.

VIP service at The Study is not limited to small groups. Celebrating a special occasion with friends and family? Or just getting together for a night out? For groups of 10 or more The Study takes reservations to ensure your night is a memorable experience. Click here to contact us and make a reservation.

    6:30-9:30PM

Melaniie has been singing before she could even walk. Her burning passion for music eventually pushed her in the direction to follow her dreams. She started singing as a featured artist in the latter part of 2012. When it comes to music, says Melaniie, “It is the only thing that feels right. It is the one thing that can make everything in this whole wide world okay. It soothes my soul.”

    ALEX OASAY + JEREMEY CHENG

    7:30 - 10:30PM

My music is influenced by Hawaii because of the many diverse visitors that come to visit here, I try to play music that hopefully everyone will enjoy no matter where they are visiting from.

What is different about performing at THE MODERN HONOLULU is the atompshere. From the beautiful hotel to the view of the sunset, there are not too many venues like this. I enjoy playing at THE MODERN HONOLULU because of the people, the clients are always friendly and the staff here always go out of their way to help. This is one of my favorite places to perform.

    SIMPLE SOULS

    6:30-10:30PM

Simple Souls, the acoustic incarnation of established musical group, Kanalo, has been performing together since July 2003. What was initially a dare to play aside from their established band, Kanalo *which was then a four-piece band), turned into a new passion for “unplugged” music and a fresh acoustic sounds. Simple Souls holds it down with an acoustic guitar, percussions, two vocals and a killer list of songs.
