Honolulu Museum of Art’s ARTafterDARK celebration continues to be MODERN!
“Urban Underground” Presented by THE MODERN HONOLULU – May 26, 2017
Throughout the year, the Honolulu Museum of Art regularly hosts their ARTafterDARK series the last Friday of each month. During May, the museum’s Urban Underground themed event will feature cutting edge tunes from student performers from the Pow! Wow! School of Music, live painting by the thought provoking artist, Kosta Kulundzic and the urban beat of Ramyt at the museum’s Luce Pavilion.
The event has become popular with residents and travelers alike as it consistently brings an enlightened view to Hawaii’s blossoming art community.
As a regular sponsor of the ARTafterDARK series, THE MODERN HONOLULU is excited to be participating once again this month. Tickets for the May 26, 2017 event, can be purchased here for $25, and includes free admission to the after party at ADDICTION Nightclub at THE MODERN HONOLULU. A trolley will depart from the front entrance of the museum. You must keep your ARTafterDARK wristband to get in.

Known to art lovers as the finest small museum in the United States, the Honolulu Museum of Art is actually three museums in one. In addition to the main location, the museum also features Spalding House in Makiki Heights, which boasts a stunning collection of contemporary art along with spectacular views of Honolulu, and the outstanding Islamic Art Collection (book ahead to visit) housed in the waterfront Shangri La estate of the late heiress and curator Doris Duke.
Located just 2.5 miles from THE MODERN HONOLULU, the main museum’s galleries are filled with master works ranging from Japanese woodblock prints and Andy Warhol works to Pan-Pacific artifacts and world-famous post-Impressionist oils, including Monet’s “Water Lilies.” The museum is open Tuesday through Sunday.
